Hi Everyone,

Well here we are at the end of another great Season, where have all the weeks gone?
Anyway, we had a great September, so here is an update:-

1st September, we attended a new show for us at Brightlingsea, this was in aid of the local scout group. It was very well organised and we had a really lovely walk along Brightlingsea too. Hopefully another date for next year also.

8th September, some of our Members went to Aylesford Priory in Kent, we hadn't been there for a few years, lots of cars and plenty to see and do. Also some of our Members went to Walton on The Naze, they enjoyed a great weather and a good car show.

15th September, The Club went to Colchester Castle to the classic car show in aid of Headway, again a very good day with a great turnout of cars.

22nd September, was the Warren Classic and Supercar Show at the Warren Golf Club near Maldon, this was a really good show with lots of super cars and top of the range cars. Although the weather forecast was not good, there were only a few spots of rain, so nothing to dampen our spirits.

29th September, we should have gone to Weald Park Classic Car Show in Brentwood but, unfortunately we had to cancel due to heavy rain and gales.

We are now busy planning our winter events, the first being a fund raising night in aid of the Essex Air Ambulance who, we have chosen as our charity for the year. We are also looking at having some runs out on a Sunday providing the weather is kind to us!

We have already booked our Christmas Dinner and Dance which we will be attending on the 30th November.

Will keep you all updated.

Regards,

August Newsletter

Hi Everyone,

Well, where has the Summer gone? Only another month and its the end of the Season! Time certainly flies when your driving an MG.

Anyway here is an update of what we have been doing in August.

4th August, some of our Members attended the Northern National in Harrogate, this was a great show, so many MG's to look and admire. Some of us made it a weeks holiday in beautiful Yorkshire, we were very lucky with the weather and didn't get blown away or washed away; which was lucky considering that we were camping!! Definitely one for next year again.

11th August, saw us have a good turnout at a new sow in Canvey Island, Essex. It has changed venue to the leisure centre, so more room and no hassle with the traffic. This was the first year the show has been held there and they are hoping it will be bigger and better next year.

18th August, we had a great day out at the Biggin Hill Air and Classic Car Show in Kent. When we arrived the sun was shining, then the heavens opened and it poured and we all thought that the air show would be cancelled! However, by 1pm, the sun was out again and the air show was fantastic, again another one for next year!

25th August, some of our Members went to the Little Clacton Classic Car Show although, this is a small show, it was well attended.

Our Christmas this year is at The Old Plough House in Bulphan Essex, this year is a Tom Jones tribute night plus a 3 course meal, we haven't been to this venue before but, it has some really good write ups.

We have a full programme for September with 5 events. Updates on these next time.

June/July Newsletter

Hi Everyone,

Well at last the sun has come out, hopefully we will have good weather for the rest of the season!!

Here is an update of the runs and events we have done in June:-

2nd June, we went to a new for us at Stanford le Hope, in aid of the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance, this was quite a good show with lots of classics, commercials and bikes. We were pleased to announce that Colin, one of our members won Best Car In Show. CONGRATULATIONS COLIN!

9th June, saw us attending another new show for us at, Cammas Hall Fruit Farm near Hatfield Heath, we had been asked by them to put on an exhibition of our MG's. We were made to feel very welcome, and had lots of interest shown in our cars, there is lots to see and do, including pick your own fruit, so its well worth a visit.

16th June, we attended the Chelmsford Motofest, this was in conjunction with Fathers Day, again a very big show with lots of muscle cars and classics with, lots going on in the arena. We did have a couple of downpours during the day but, this didn't dampen our spirits.

23rd June, the Club went to Hatfield Heath Festival, lots to see and do, including a young man who built his own push bike and converted into a jet bike, apparently able to reach 70mph!!!

30th June we ventured to the other side of the water to Wrotham 40th Steam and Transport Show, this is a very big show with lots of classics, commercials and steam engines, some of them were huge! Many auto jumble stalls for lots of bits and pieces.

Well, that's all for now! We will update you on Julys events next time.

May Newsletter

Hello Everyone,

Well the Season has finally started! Hopefully we will have good weather for most of it.

Our first run of the Season was to Chatham Maritime Museum for their Festival of Transport, we had 23 cars attend this event and we had beautiful sunny weather. The Steam Punks that were in the Museum Hall caused a great deal of interest and hilarity amongst our group, there was, as always lots to see and do there. One small disappointment for some of the ladies, was that there was no "Call The Midwife" Tour this year although, it had officially started at the beginning of April, it was decided that their was too much going on, they would not hold it over the Easter weekend.

We would like to welcome 2 new members to our group, Paul and Maureen, who thoroughly enjoyed their first outing with us.

28th April, saw 12 cars for our own "Drive It Day", we had a nice run through the countryside to get to Maldon, where we enjoyed a nice pub lunch. Unfortunately the weather was not that brilliant, so not many hoods down but, all in all a good day.

5th May, we have 15 cars going to Weald Country Fayre and Classic Car Show, we attended this event last year and it was a really good show, with loads to see and do.

We are now looking forward to the rest of the season with lots of runs and events planned.
Will update everyone on future events in the next issue of Enjoying MG. Don't forget to look at our photos from various events on the events albums section on the website.

April Newsletter

Hello Everyone,

Well as I am writing this report at the end of March, we are eagerly awaiting the start of the season.
Our first run will be Chatham Dockyard for the Festival of Transport. This is one of the Club's favourites and this year we will be exhibiting 23 cars, just keeping fingers crossed for good weather.

We will be holding our Club Meeting on 1st April, to decide which charity we will be supporting this year and we will update everyone in the next issue of Enjoying MG .

We have chosen the MG event in Harrogate in August as part of our Club holiday and a few of our Members will be camping up there for a few days before and after the event. NO IT WILL NOT BE LIKE CARRY ON CAMPING!!

Unfortunately we have decided that we will not be hosting the Abridge Motorfest this year in conjunction with the Abridge Village Carnival at which we used to raise money for our chosen charity , due to circumstances beyond our control.
However, we are looking at holding various other fundraising events throughout the year for this years charities.

The list for our forthcoming events are now available for all to see on our website, together with photos of all our previous events, so please goto our event albums to view them at any time.

You can also contact us by email at midessexmgoc2@gmail.com if you have any questions or queries regarding the Club or any events.

Guess thats all for now, except to wish every happy MG'ing for the new Season.

Hello Everyone,

Hope you are all recovered from the New Year's day hangovers!

Am writing this at the end of January 2019 and yes once again the snow is here! The club have been amassing a lot of runs and events for the forthcoming Season and, it seems we will be attending quite a few new and different events.
Obviously nothing much has happened in January, as not many Members want to bring out their MG's out in the cold and wet.

A couple of our Members are in Australia at the moment and they have been enjoying the hospitality of the Sydney MG Club. They went out for an afternoon run for fish and chips down by the river. There was a good turnout of cars and everyone made them feel really welcome.

Well, think that's about all for now.

Hi Everyone,

Hope you all had a good New Year and not too many sore heads.
Well not a lot to report this month, apart from our Christmas Dinner at the Cliffs Pavillion, Southend-on-Sea which, was held on the 14th December. We had 33 Members attend and a good time was had by all. The meal and The Jersey Boys entertainment were good and, the staff who served us were excellent.
They even joined in the banter between our tables, all in all a great night, lots of laughs and dancing. Please look at the event albums page for photos of this event.

We are busy at the moment planning for this seasons runs and social events so, will update everyone on these as and when we have more details.
We are looking forward to the start of the Season in April and our first run will probably be to Chatham Dockyards but, will let you all know about this when we have more details.

Hi Everyone,

Well we hope that you all had a good Christmas and would like to wish everyone a Happy and Prosperous New Year. Just a quick update:-

17th November, we attended a 60's night at Budworth Hall in Ongar. We had fish & chips and a raffle. The entertainment was very good and, from the first song till the last, got everyone up dancing. A brilliant evening enjoyed by everyone who attended!

25th November, saw 24 of our Members go to Bury St Edmunds Christmas Market. This was the first time we had attended this market and it was excellent.
There were over three hundred stalls selling Christmas stuff, food, Gluhwein and hot chocolate. It was cold and cloudy but, it stayed dry for us.
Please take a look at the photos of both these events in our event albums section.

14th December, will see our Members going to The Cliffs Pavillion in Southend on Sea, where we will be having a three course meal followed by, The Jersey Boys and then a disco. It promises to be a great night.
Will update everyone on Cliffs Pavillion in the next issue of Enjoying MG.

We have already started planning our runs for 2019 and these will be updated each month on our events page on our website. We have been invited already to attend some classic car shows for 2019, so will keep everyone updated on these in the future.

We have not decided as yet where we will be going on our New Year Run, this depends totally on the weather! Well no more to report this time.

Firstly we are writing this in November for the December issue. May we wish all MGer's a very Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Even though the season has now finished we are still doing some shows and events. Here is an update of what we have been doing in October:-

14th October, we attended the last show of the season at Stanford le Hope, this was in aid of mens health, weather was cold and grey but we still managed to have a good time, especially those who went on the zip wire

21st October, we had a lovely afternoon tea at Tiptree Tea Rooms and Museum. The weather was glorious so, we had our hoods down, very unusual for October!

27th October, we held our fundraising night in aid of GOSH. It was an 80's theme, so we had an 80's quiz, buffet and live entertainment by Georgie a fantastic drag queen, who sang 80's songs and got us all up dancing.
He donated his fee to GOSH, so a big thank you! goes to him and to all the MG Members who worked so hard to make this night successful, The 80's fancy dress was fantastic (see event albums for photos).

25th November will see some of our Members go to the Christmas market at Bury St Edmunds, this is the first time we have been to this market, so will update everyone on this in the next edition.

Finally our Club Christmas Dinner will be at The Cliffs Pavillion Westcliffe on Sea. Three course meal, Jersey Boys show and disco. This is on the 14th December, looks like it will be a good night. Thats all for now!

Here is an update of what we have been upto:-

8th July, saw us at the Orsett Showground, this also had lots to see and do including, live music and dancing. The weather was gorgeous.

14th July, saw some of our Members went to the Writtle Family Fun Day nr Chelmsford, the cars were greatly admired especially, by some of the children who, were allowed to have photographs taken in some of the cars.

22nd July, we attended Wings and Wheels at Damyns Hall, this show was in aid of MIND, it started four years ago and has grown bigger and bigger each year. Its definitely worth a visit if, you haven't been before.

29th July (the ONLY wet day in weeks!), we were at Ingatestone Hall in Essex. It rained most of the day but, it didn't dampen our spirits however, we did have a minor mishap towards the end of the show, when we had a sudden gush of wind (mini hurricane!) which, lifted our gazebos off the ground and knocked over tables and chairs etc. It was bit like a scene from the Wizard Of Oz when, the wicked witch appeared!

We will be holding our AGM on Monday 6th August 2018, so will update everyone on this next time.

Keep on enjoying the sunny weather, looks like its here for a few more weeks!

April Newsletter

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to our April Newsletter. We don't have alot to report as obviously we have not had many runs or events happening over the past couple of months.

So here is an update of what we have been doing. Some of our members went to Stoneleigh Spares Day, there didn't appear to be many stalls as there normally are! Maybe because of the weather, as it was a bitterly cold day. It started to snow when our Members left.

Later on in the month we had a cream tea run to Finchingfield, we had 28 Members attend and, the cream tea was excellent!
At the time of writing, we are getting all the cars upto standard for our first outing of the season which, is to Chatham Dockyard; so we are keeping our fingers crossed that we don't get any snow!

The following week, although om a Saturday, we have Detling Railway. This is not one we have been to before, so we will update everyone on how it went in our next issue.

We are continuing to get requests to be put on the list for our Abridge Show which, is on the 17th June, so if your interested just give us an email to secure your place.

That's about all for now.

Kind Regards,

Hi Everyone,

Hope you all had a good New Year and not too many sore heads. Not much to report this month, as obviously we don't have many runs during the winter period.
However we have arranged an afternoon tea for the end of February at Bosworth's Tea Rooms in Finchingfield. This is a lovely part of Essex, a chocolate box village.

We have been to Bosworth's before and enjoyed an excellent afternoon tea. I am sure that this time will be no different. Our meeting in January just updated everyone on what we had discussed at the December meeting. Further plans for some different runs this year plus more social events to raise money for our charities.

Our own show at Abridge this year will be on the 17th June, again it will be a Sunday, costs for this years entry will be four pounds per vehicle. We have already had enquiries for Club Stands so, if your interested in the show then please contact us via our email address to register and to get more details.

There are some runs in February run by the MG Owners Club themselves so if your interested in attending please contact them directly. We will update everyone on further plans in the next edition of Enjoying MG.

November/December Newsletter

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the November & December issue of our Newsletter.

We held our Fish & Chip Quiz Night on Saturday 28th October. We had a great night with lots of our Members dressed up in Halloween costumes, we even managed a power cut (a real one!) to add to the spirit of the night.

We raised £400 for Great Ormond Street Hospital's Safari Ward in memory of little Buzz Man Max. (see Our Charity Donations section on here). We had a lovely card back from them thanking us for the donation which, they are using to buy a new piece of equipment for the ward.

Well done to everyone who took and looked the part and a big thank you to Iris who thought up all the quiz questions. (see the photos on our Event Albums section).

26th November we had a great trip to Bath Christmas Markets, we had a very early start but, we had good weather, cold and sunny! So it wasn't too bad for all the walking around!
There were over 200 stalls spread over a big area, lots of places to stop and have a tea, coffee, hot chocolate as well as the several mulled wine stalls available.
Some of our Members went to Sally Lunns, to sample the original Bath Bun. We arrived back in Hainault around 9pm, very tired but, we all had enjoyed a really good day.
1st December, we had our annual Dinner and Dance at The Hunter's Meet at Hatfield Heath. The theme for this year was 50's/60's. Alot of our Members dressed up in the clothes of that era, so lots of Pink Ladies and T Birds plus the odd Hippies thrown in.
We had a really good night, lots of laughs, good music and great company! (see photos of the night in the Event Albums section on here.
Lastly I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Looking forward to the next season of M.G'ing

Vic

October Newsletter

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the October edition of our Newsletter.

Well we are almost at the end of the season now, with just one more show on the 8th October at the Canvey Island Transport Museum. To date we have 22 cars booked for this event, a really good turnout!

Here is an update of what we did in September:-

3rd September, we had a really good turnout of 19 cars going to Capel Manor near Enfield. This is one of the favourite shows for the Club, there are lots of things to do, with beautiful gardens and a small animal park plus, there are a few autojumble stalls, so something for everyone.

10th September, we had our annual trip to the seaside at Walton On Naze, weather was lovely when we arrived but, by about 2pm, it was blowing a hooley and raining, so we decided an early day would be prudent, so no paddle in the sea this year!

24th September, was at the Warren Golf Club near Woodham Walter near Maldon. This was a new event for us and it turned out to be an excellent show with many classic and supercars on view. Once again we were made to feel very welcome by the organisers, so definitely one for the diary's next year.

July Newsletter

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the July edition of our Newsletter.

This is an update of what we have being doing in June.

4th June, saw us making our way to the bracing seaside of Brighton for the Classic Car Run on Madiera Drive. We had a bright sunny day although, a little chilly but, not chilly enough to stop two of our members having a paddle in the sea.
We also had a nice stroll along the pier, before looking at all the cars. All in all, a good day out!

11th June, saw us making our way to our own show held in Abridge. The day for this event had changed this year from a Saturday to Sunday, this was the decision of the Abridge Carnival Committee. It certainly attracted more cars, bikes and commercial etc then we have ever had before!
Again the weather was kind to us and we had a great day. This year we chose as our charity, Great Ormond Street Hospital and the childrens ITU and we are pleased to announce that we managed to raise £500.00 for them.
We would like to thank all the helpers and volunteers for all their hard work on the day, we could not have done it without the support and pulling together from all the Club.
18th June, some of our Members went to Bodium Castle, this was a new show for us and the castle and grounds were exceptional, again the weather was on our side but, too hot for some of us. Thank goodness there was a pub and a cafe nearby.
The rest of our Members went to Weeley Classic Car Show near Clacton again, they had a great day out.

25th June, saw us going to the Lawns in Rochford for the Vintage and Classic Car Show again, a good show with many cars, music and stalls to enjoy.

2nd July, saw 18 cars attend the Maldon "Classics on the Promenade". This is a very big show with lots to see and do. Please see our photos of all the above events on our web page. We have recently upgraded our website and you can view these on midessexmgoc.com or midessexmgownersclub.com (for time being whilst domain transfers).

Once again, we have a very busy July, so will update everyone on future events next time.

Well we were very busy on May, so here is an update of what we were doing....

7th May quite a few of the Club went to Leeds Castle for Motors On The Moat, although it was cold in the morning, it brightened up in the afternoon. Some of our ladies decided it would be a good idea to go on a punt around the moat and, they were lucky enough to be taken into the King's bath chamber, unfortunately for the girls, the King was out!
This is a really good day out and all who attended enjoyed it!

Some of our other Members were in Jersey for the MG Rally, organised by the Boston MGOC, and we are pleased to annouce that Brian, our Events Secretary won Best Car In Class, for Pride of Ownership, so well done Brian!

14th May we had 18 cars go to Battlesbridge Classic Car Show, this is a show that we attend every year and a good place to go to get bits and pieces for the cars from the autojumble. We had great weather for this, so a good day all in all.

21st May we were at Little Clacton Classic Car Show and although this is only a small show, there are quite a few stalls and other entertainment laid on by the organisers.

28th May we went to a new show for the first time which was, the East Anglian Railway Musuem in Chappel Colne near Colchester.
This turned out to be a very interesting day, lots of exhibits and rides on the steam trains, even a Victorian Pub. We were made to feel very welcome and were presented with a certificate of apprecitation for bringing the Club.

We are pleased to announce that we have changed our venue for the monthly meeting as unfortunately, we had outgrown The Rabbits.
We are now meeting on the 1st Monday of each month at The Top Oak, Oak Hill Road, Stapleford, Essex RM4 1JL at 8pm. So pop along and join us.

We are also in the process of updating our website, so will give more details on this when we are fully up and running.

We have a very busy June also, with the most important date being our own Classic Car Show on the 11th at Abridge. Address is 39 Ongar Road, Abridge, Essex, postcode RM4 1UH.
Show will run from 10.30am to 4.30pm, there will be craft and food stalls, so a great family day out. To date, we have 150 pre-booked cars but, you can turn up on the day, entry cost is £3.00 per vehicle.
